On the 15th of July 2024,the Registration of Persons (Amendment) Act 2024 was assented into law with the effect of transferring the marriage function from Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) to the National Identification and Registration Authority. Under Customary marriage, the Town Clerks and Sub County Chiefs have the legal mandate to *only register customary marriages* at a fee of *60,000* /= within *6 months* of celebration of marriage.
