Gulu, Uganda – The Acholi Cultural Festival, a vibrant celebration of the rich heritage of the Acholi people, concluded on December 14th, 2024, leaving a lasting impression on attendees and reaffirming its position as a significant cultural event in Uganda.
Held at the iconic Kaunda Grounds , the three-day extravaganza showcased a captivating blend of traditional music, dance, art, and cuisine. Thousands of people from across the region & nationally gathered to immerse themselves in the cultural tapestry of the Acholi people.
A key figure in the festival's success was Rwot Onen David Achana II, the paramount chief of the Acholi people. His unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting Acholi culture has been instrumental in rejuvenating this annual event.

Working closely with Rwot Onen was Paul Mutanga, a renowned events management expert from Opolacen. Mutanga's strategic planning and execution played a crucial role in elevating the festival to new heights.
"We aimed to create an unforgettable experience that would honor the past while inspiring the future," said Mutanga. "The overwhelming response from the public has exceeded our expectations."
The festival featured a diverse range of activities, including traditional dances like the Bwola , Otole, Dingi dingi, larakaraka captivating music performances, and captivating cultural exhibitions, traditional cuisines . Local artisans showcased their skills, offering unique handicrafts and traditional delicacies.
The event also served as a platform for dialogue and unity, fostering a sense of community among the Acholi people. It highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
