Gulu, Northern Uganda – May 3, 2025 –
Ker Kwaro Acholi (KKA), under the leadership of Lawirwodi David Onen Acana II, has received a significant boost to its operational capacity with the donation of a brand-new van from the Ugandan government. The vehicle, commonly known as a "Drone" in Uganda, will greatly facilitate the movement of staff and traditional chiefs during their routine fieldwork across the Acholi region.
The acquisition of this van marks a notable step forward for KKA, which plays a vital role in preserving Acholi culture, resolving land disputes, and fostering community development. The vehicle, equipped with executive seating and functional air conditioning, will provide a comfortable and efficient mode of transport for the royal entourage, which can accommodate up to 13 people.
"This generous donation will significantly enhance our ability to reach communities and effectively carry out our mandate," stated Okello Okuna, Spokesperson for Ker Kwaro Acholi. "The comfort and capacity of the 'Drone' will make a tangible difference in our daily operations."
The donation comes from the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, highlighting the government's recognition of KKA's crucial role in the region. KKA has expressed its sincere gratitude to the Ministry for its continued support, emphasizing the positive impact this contribution will have on their work.
"We are deeply grateful to the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development for their unwavering support," Okuna added. "Their commitment to our work is invaluable, and this van will undoubtedly ease our movements and empower us to serve our people more effectively."
The phrase, "bit by bit makes a bundle," which was used in the official statement, perfectly encapsulates the incremental progress being made in the Acholi region. This donation is a testament to the collaborative efforts between the government and traditional institutions, working together to improve the lives of the Acholi people.
The new van will enable KKA to:
* Enhance Community Outreach: Facilitate more frequent and efficient visits to remote communities, fostering stronger connections and addressing local needs.
* Strengthen Conflict Resolution: Improve the ability of traditional chiefs to travel to dispute sites and mediate land conflicts, promoting peaceful resolutions.
* Promote Cultural Preservation: Enable cultural experts and chiefs to travel to various locations to document and preserve Acholi cultural heritage.
* Improve Operational Efficiency: Reduce travel time and increase the overall effectiveness of KKA's fieldwork.
This donation is a significant step forward for Ker Kwaro Acholi, allowing them to better serve the Acholi people and contribute to the ongoing development of the region. By providing practical support, the government is reinforcing the vital role of traditional institutions in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity.
