Rwot David Onen Acana II (born 1967) is the Paramount Chief (Lawirwodi) of the Acholi people in Northern Uganda, holding the position since January 2005. He was invested as the Acholi Paramount Chief in 2005, heading the traditional institution. Conflict Resolution: He has been a pivotal voice in negotiating peace, particularly engaging in discussions regarding the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) conflict. Development and Advocacy: He focuses on socio-economic development, agricultural initiatives, environmental protection (tree planting campaigns), and improving the livelihood of his people Land Management.
He has cautioned against land grabbing and illegal sales, urging the community to view land as a vital resource for production Cultural Leadership: Recognized by the Ugandan government as the legitimate Paramount Chief, he manages cultural conflicts and promotes traditional justice mechanisms, often working to harmonize them with formal laws.
His leadership has also focused on post-war recovery, frequently encouraging the Acholi community to focus on unity, unity against, and development rather than depending on conflict-era narratives
